Review of Fire & Rescue Authority Effectiveness

The Fire Authority publishes an annual Review of its Effectiveness together with a Record of Members' Attendance.

Review of Effectiveness and their associated Action Plans are included in the Annual Governance Statement, which forms part of the Statement of Accounts.

In 2019/20 Members decided that the annual review process was not required for that year and that the exercise would be completed again following a Governance review which included restructuring the committees and appointing Lead Members for:
- Prevention and Protection
- Emergency Response
- People and Culture
- Physical and Digital Assets
- Finance, Productivity and Efficiency

The Member Leads have been successfully operating for a a couple of years.

During September 2022 the Local Government Association undertook an independent review of governance which included a desktop document review of Fire Authority Governance Documents and separate diagnostic sessions for Members and Officers, all of which lead to an action plan for completion by 30th March 2023.
