The Fire Authority meets 6 times a year and is a publicly accountable body which manages Bedfordshire Fire and Rescue Service on behalf of the communities it serves. It has a number of functions and responsibilities covering decision making on:
· Policies
· Strategies
· Community Risk Management Plan
· Appointment/dismissal of Chief Fire Officer or Chief Executive, Deputy to the Chief Fire Officer, Chief Finance Officer and Monitoring Officer
· Budget, reserves and borrowing
· Committee and Member appointments
