The meeting started at 11.52 am following an employer/employee conversation with CFO Fuller where he outlined the reasoning behind his request that his contract of employment be made permanent and his possible future intentions.  This led to a discussion by members present, in the absence of CFO Fuller, where the legal advice tabled was considered.

Public Participation

To receive any questions put to the Authority under the Public Participation Scheme

 

Minutes:

4.1    Members noted that no questions had been received in accordance with the public participation scheme approved at the meeting of the Fire and Rescue Authority held on 5 April 2000 (Minute 99/fa/94 refers).

 

4.2    Insofar as councillors present (who were not Executive Committee members) asking questions, Cllr Downing confirmed that Cllrs Headley and Atkins may ask questions within item 5.

 

With respect to process for notifying non-Executive Committee members when ad hoc Executive Committee meetings were called, John Atkinson, the Monitoring Officer and Secretary, confirmed that as this was the first meeting of this committee in its new form, the learning from this would be used going forward. The Chair stated that this meeting was called as an urgent matter because of 1) the statutory response time within the initial letter that was to be discussed and 2) in order to ensure that the Executive could consider the matter before the next FRA meeting this coming Thursday.
